Karesuandokniven Johtalit - Vapentidningen No.3 - 2017

A new issue of Vapentidningen on it's way out in stores. In this, the 3rd mag of the year, you'll be reading about gear like; Tikka T3x TAC A1 (Erland Gunnarsson and Erik B), Caesar Guerini Summit ADJ. (Tobias Hassel) and Smith & Wesson Highway Patrolman (Henrik Kalling). As usual I also have contributed with a knife article. This time it's all about the new knife model from Karesuandokniven; Johtalit. The knife was launched in March at the IWA Outdoor Classics, Nuremberg, and comes with a cleaver newly patented carry system. It's a leather sheath that covers the knive's whole length. A maneuver hole enables you to take out the knife using only one hand by punching the knife upwards with your finger.

I find the Johtalit to be a very nice combination of knife and sheath, together with a perfect "hole-in-one" regarding the mix of old Swedish knife tradition and tasteful modern design.

Hope you'll have a pleasant moment reading the magazine, preferably outside in the warm Spring sun.

Track and Clue Awareness

Place: Malmen, Vallentuna, Sweden
Coordinates: 59.593893, 18.09824 (lat, lon)
Time: 2 days in April

This weekend I've spent in the pleasant company of SARInfo Sweden during their course called Track and Clue Awareness. Vallentuna; just outside Stockholm, stood for a spectacular scenery and nice weather. Tracking is a fascinating subject that one never can learn enough of. Thanks to brilliant instructors like; Clive G. Swombow, Hans Larsson and Patrik Andersson it's easy to get inspiration to go out there and get some more dirt time tracking.

No matter what you're tracking; game, man or other object, there's a couple of aspect always to consider. For instance; knowledge about the objects behavior, experience and condition. Also an understanding of the laws of Physics; mechanical, material and time, is vital.

Basic Survival Training April 2017

Place: Jonas Vildmark's woods, Hälsingland, Sweden
Time: 3 days in April

Time for the April version of Jonas Vildmark's Basic Survival Training up in the deep forests of Hälsingland. Glad and eager participants meet up in the Spring sun of Kilafors. The pleasant atmosphere within the group is already established during our drive deeper into and up the quiet woods. At these heights the snow is still lingering between the shadows of the trees and the temperatures of the weekend will end up at between -3 and +6 °C.

The participant's curiosity, stamina and motivation contributes to creative solutions. The excitement of not knowing what's gonna happen next helps us to seize the moment. The cool nights offer magical music from the wildlife in the full moon light. There's in moments like these you truly feel alive.
